BTB – Creativity and Children Area

In feng shui the creativity/children area is located in the center of the right side of your home.(See Bagua.)

The Chinese name for this area is Dui (dway) meaning joyous lake. What a wonderful name to describe all the wonders of children and being able to create new things.

It is associated with the mouth and the color white (and pastels).

This part of you home ( remember that the Bagua can overlay all your property, your home, and each room inside of the house) is connected with your children’s health and well-being and all your creativity.

There are many ways to enhance this area .You can add::

  • posters, pictures or figures of children to stimulate your creative side.
  • Anything created by children
  • Supplies used for creating things (paint, craft material, etc)
  • Whimsical objects, toys, and stuffed animals
  • Any thing in the color of white or pastels including walls.
  • Circular, oval, or arched objects
  • Things made of metal (brass, steel, pewter, silver, gold, aluminum, copper, etc)
  • Quotes, sayings or affirmations pertaining to children
  • Memorabilia from your own childhood
  • Items that you have created

Part of this area is actually missing from our house because of an indentation of the building so I have decorated the outside  with a whimsical  metal butterfly sculpture from Jekyll Island, a toy sand bucket from Myrtle Beach, a concrete statue from my childhood and a bird house hanging from a metal shepherd hook. On the inside I have the high chair that was mine and used by all my sons against that wall with a homemade (my mother’s creation) bear sitting in it.

When I first started decorating with Feng shui I begin by laying the Bagua over the whole house and enhanced the larger areas first. How As I go though the rooms themselves – painting and decluttering- I am using the Bagua to enhance the areas in each room .  The outdoor property Bagua area was the home of the boy’s basketball playing area. A wind storm took out the basket ball goal a few years ago and since it was no longer being used we have not replaced it. I have added a white dog statue but the property bagua enhancements for this area are in the planning stage.
